What is the HVAC Preventive Maintenance benefit?

The HVAC Preventive Maintenance (PM) benefit reduces the risk of costly repairs. Maintenance ONLY - service requests do not include a deductible.

The PM benefit pays for the labor for the service provider to complete the preventive maintenance checklist (See T&C for the complete checklist). This benefit does not cover repairs or replacements, if a repair is indicated by the preventive maintenance check the customer can submit a claim. In the event the customer has the service provider do work outside of the checklist, the plan is not responsible for any costs associated, and the service provider will be responsible for collecting payment directly from the customer for services performed outside of preventive maintenance checklist.

The PM benefit included with the “premium” plan includes:

  • One (1) professional inspection, tune-up, testing for the covered A/C (cooling) system to be scheduled February 15 through May 15.
  • One (1) professional inspection, tune-up, testing for the covered heating system to be scheduled August 15 through November 15.

  • Check crankcase heater operation for heat pumps.
See T&C for the complete checklist.

Does the plan cover servicing or routine maintenance for appliances?

Currently, Cinch’s plans do not cover these types of services. However, all three plans come with two HVAC system checks per year to help you keep your unit running efficiently.

Will Cinch cover the cost for the food lost if my refrigerator fails.

Currently Cinch plans do not provide this type of coverage.

Are manufacturer defects covered?

No. Manufacturer defects are not covered.

What happens when the repair or replacement cost exceeds the max coverage per year or per claim limit?

In instances where the combined cost of diagnosis and repair or replacement is estimated to exceed a stated contract dollar limit, Cinch will not provide repair or replacement services but will instead pay an amount equal to the contract dollar limit minus the deductible amount. Cinch will also take into consideration any other paid claim amounts within the 12-month agreement term and subtract that from the payment.

Explain the 180-day/6-month workmanship guarantee.

Covered repairs are guaranteed for 6 months where most other home warranty companies only offer a 30-day to 90-day workmanship guarantee. If, for example, a repair is done on a covered item and that same issue happens again within a 6-month timeframe, a service technician will be sent out again to repair that item at no additional cost to you.

What types of properties are covered?

What types of properties are covered?

Property must be used solely for residential purposes:

  • Single family residences
  • Condominiums
  • Townhouses
  • Villas
  • Manufactured homes (see eligibility requirements below)

Manufactured homes eligibility:

  • Has been constructed within 10 yrs. of the effective date of the agreement.
  • Must be permanently secured to the ground on land owned or located in a division operated similar to a condominium, where maintenance is provided

  • What types of properties are not covered?

  • Mobile homes
  • Multi-family residential property of more than two units
  • Any dwelling used in whole or in part for commercial purposes including non-profit organizations.
  • Homes listed or registered in any historical register, including without limitation to the National Register of Historic Places

Can I cover multiple properties with one Cinch warranty plan?

No. A separate Cinch policy will need to be purchased for each property you would like to cover.

I own a duplex/apartment building. Will Cinch cover these properties?

Yes. However, a separate Cinch policy will need to be purchased for either each side of the duplex or for each apartment unit.

What are the differences between a home warranty and homeowners insurance?

Homeowners insurance pays for accidental damage to a property due to fire, weather, theft, and some natural disasters. It may also protect the homeowner from liability claims should someone be injured on the property.

A home warranty helps cover the cost of repairs and replacements of major home appliances  caused by everyday wear and tear, or from old age.

Does Cinch cover things like a pool, spa, septic tank, etc?

Yes. After you have enrolled in your plan, you have the option to call Cinch at (844) 229-4584 and add coverage to your plan within 30 days from your effective date.

How will the customer receive the $25 filter credit benefit?

After your warranty is active and your first payment has been received, you will receive an email from FilterJoy™ with instructions on how to redeem your annual $25 Filter credit. If you continue your service, you will receive this credit on a yearly basis after your plan has renewed.

What is the locksmith reimbursement service?

Cinch will reimburse you up to $50 when you get locked out of your home and must pay a professional locksmith to get back in.

What is an unknown pre-existing condition?

Cinch will cover an unknown pre-existing mechanical failure which means the reason for the item’s failure could not have been detected by visual inspection or a simple mechanical test. However, if a problem was found during, let’s say, a home inspection and no action was taken, it would be considered a known pre-existing condition and would not be covered. Unless it is obvious the item has been broken for a long period of time or noted in a prior home inspection of repair invoice, the problem will not likely be deemed a known pre-existing condition.

Can I use my own repairman?

No. However, Cinch has an extensive network of pre-screened services providers. There’s a chance that the company you use is already approved to do work for Cinch. You can always ask them if they are part of Cinch’s network or if you’d like to recommend someone, please give them the information and they will contact the company to inquire if they would like to participate in Cinch’s network.

How long does it take for a service provider to come to my home?

The actual timing will depend upon the availability of the local service provider. You will be notified as soon as a provider is available for your specific issue. This is the way all home protection plans work – no matter which company or what geographic location.

When does coverage begin?

Coverage begins 30 days from today.

What is Cinch’s cancellation policy?

Day of enrollment through day 30:

  • Members can cancel and receive a full refund by calling or going online.

Day 31 and beyond:

  • Members are subject to Cinch’s cancellation terms and can cancel by calling or going online.
  • No claims placed: A $25 cancellation fee may be charged at Cinch’s discretion.
  • Claim(s) placed: If a claim has been placed, the member would be responsible for the remaining premium for the rest of the year or the amount of the claim, whichever is less. And a $25 cancellation fee may be charged at Cinch’s discretion.

Can I purchase a plan as a gift?

Cinch’s billing is set up as a direct bill, I wouldn’t recommend it, since they will continue to bill the payment method you provide until the warranty is cancelled.

Will you help pay for a replacement if the appliance can't be fixed?

Yes. However, all claims are subject to the terms, conditions and limitations of your service agreement. If it is determined that a covered item needs to be replaced, Cinch will replace the item with one of comparable features. Of course, just like any other protection plan, some restrictions may apply, such as caps and non-covered charges.

If an appliance needs to be replaced, will I get the exact replacement?

You may not receive the exact make and model for replacement but something close to it or comparable.

What if my appliances are really old?

It doesn't matter how old your covered items are. If they are working and have no known pre-existing condition when your protection plan goes into effect, you're covered. When you get the welcome kit, you can see the actual details of how it works.

When would I pay more than the deductible?

There may be amounts due outside of the deductible for certain repairs and/or replacements. For example, there are annual aggregate caps and per item caps for all plans. All exclusions and limitations will be listed within the terms and conditions of your service agreement.

What is the Premier Upgrade Package?

The Premier Upgrade Package (PUP) is included in all the plans and provides additional coverage for non-covered charges associated with an appliance repair or replacement.

Let me explain how it works with an example. Let's say you have an approved claim to replace your refrigerator. Cinch’s home warranty covers the costs of parts and labor, but there are $400 of non-covered charges associated with the replacement (for electrical modifications and equipment disposal). Without this extra coverage, you would be responsible for paying the $400.

Keep mind, this benefit can be used two times per contract year (for up to $1,000 for the Appliance and Appliance Plus Plan and up to $2,000 for the Appliance Premium Plan).

How does the claim process work?

Claims can be placed 24/7/365 by calling or going online.

What is a home warranty and how does it work?

A Cinch Home Warranty is an annual service agreement that helps cover the cost of repairs and replacements of major appliances when mechanical breakdowns occur due to everyday wear and tear.
